Dear Dr. Hochman,
I am a Turkish citizen from Istanbul and I read about your great help to Batuhan. I wanted to thank you for your assistance to a patient who needs help while in his own country doctors were not taking enough care of him.
Best regards,
Aycha

'Help corral funds for hemangioma treatment at Cowboy Couture"
For the past five years. The Hemangioma Treatment Foundation has rounded up funds at Cowboy Couture, a giddyup-style gala where guests trade in their diamonds and stilettos for bolo ties and spurs. "It's different than other black-tie affairs," says Dr. Marcelo Hochman, the organization's founder. "While at medical school at the University of Texas, I wore cowboy boots everywhere--it became my "signature." So I wanted to pattern the event after a 'cattleman's ball,' where you can mix Western and formal wear."
A local facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Hochman began helping patients with hemangiomas (benign vascular birthmarks) some 20 years ago, inspired by his oldest son, who was born with one. Having become an international leading specialist on the condition, he established the foundation in 2003 to continue his charitable activities on a bigger scale. And it worked: through the organization, he's been able to treat more than 120 patients by traveling to places such as Manila, Philippines, and bringing patients to the Holy City from as far away as Iraq, Turkey and Cyprus.
Want to help further his mission? Grab your pardner and head for Memminger Auditorium. After filling up on gourmet grub from Iverson Catering, hit the dance floor to bluegrass group the Carolina Chocolate Drops and funk and soul ensemble The MAXX. A live auction has fantastic items in store, and guests who purchase "golden nuggets" (i.e. raffle tickets) are eligible for a grand prize. Put on your boots and go West for a good cause.
